String Instrument Examples on YouTube

We have enjoyed watching these examples of string instruments in our music classes this week. (We will finish with strings next Tuesday, September 27th.)  Some of the kids asked for the links, so here you go.  I think you will enjoy watching them together.  Ms. J

Kindergarten Songs and Instruments of the Orchestra 9-17-16

Kindergarten is a fun time of exploration and learning in music class.

We have been working on singing the following songs:

  • SURE Song
  • Five Little Ducks
  • Itsy Bitsy Spider
  • I Am Principled
  • Star Spangled Banner

Instrument Exploration

We are also exploring and demonstrating the various instruments of the Orchestra.  This week we explored the Brass Family (Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn and Tuba).  Soon we will be seeing and hearing the String Family (Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass).  The kids get a wonderful expression on their face when they first hear these instruments!

We are also getting a chance to play the hand drum and tambourines with our classmates.  We have a fun song with rhythm sticks where we listen and follow directions.

Welcome to Kindergarten Music!

Greetings, new and returning families.  I am looking forward to getting acquainted with your Kindergarten students beginning the week of August 22-26.  Kindergarten music classes will meet weekly at the following times:

  • Mondays from 11:40-12:20:  Mrs. Vencill and Mrs. Vadillo
  • Mondays from 12:20-1:00:  Mrs. Tweed
  • Fridays from 11:40-12:20:  Mrs. Bransford
  • Fridays from 12:20-1:00:  Mrs. Palmer

Our first week of music class we "took a field trip" to the music room, found our new seats, had our picture taken for our music class seating chart.  We had fun singing with "Pete the Cat and His New School Shoes."  We love how he has such a good attitude about trying new things!

HERE IS OUR SURE SONG

  • Be Safe
  • Be Understanding
  • Be Respectful
  • Give Your Best Effort
  • Be Safe, Be Safe, Be Safe--I'm Safe, I'm Safe, I'm Safe!

Kindergarten students are invited to audition for our after school choir, Bulldog Pups, which meets on Tuesdays from 2:45-4:00.  More information will be posted here.  Also, we are looking for some helpful and willing parents to assist during our weekly Kindergarten Arts Classes, and well as during our Tuesday after school rehearsals.  This is an important but fun job--and you are welcome to participate in our music activities, if you like.

You are always welcome to leave me a question or comment at my email:  cynthiajorstad@vistausd.org or on my school phone:  (760) 726-2170 Ext. 44316.
